In the fall of 2013, Octopus Club’s founder Lew Aldridge shared an email from a recently-diagnosed HIV-positive man with his staff. The letter painted a dire picture. The man, only 21 years of age, was drowning in unpaid bills. His financial situation reached such an extent that the man was forced to decide between paying his rent or his HIV medicine.
No one should ever be forced to make such a decision.
The man’s letter prompted several Octopus Club members to establish a new group—INK—which aims to unite young professionals in an effort to contribute to ASA’s Paul Kirby Emergency Assistance Fund. The fund provides emergency aid to individuals facing complicated financial situations.
On June 14th, 2015 INK will be hosting its second annual Spring Brunch. The event will take place at the stunning Hummingbird House located at 12805 Arroyo Doble Dr, Manchaca, TX 78652.
From 11 AM to 2 PM, executive Chefs Zack Teegardin of Perry’s Steakhouse and Allie Teegardin of The Austin Optimist will cook up a custom menu of local, organic brunch goodies. Bottomless mimosas, a Bloody Mary bar, and fair trade, organic coffees also await those attending.
Grab some old friends and come make new ones at the second annual INK Spring Brunch.
100% of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Paul Kirby Fund.
