“Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.”
– Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Monique Monita and Summer McKee liked to joke that Prince and Michael Jackson brought them together. They met at a tribute to these musicians at the Red Scoot Inn five years ago and knew soon after that they wanted to one day marry. Last year, they started planning their dream wedding. They knew from the start that it had to happen in Austin, and they knew The Driskill Hotel was the perfect setting to celebrate the next stage of this Texas love story.
Unfortunately, as all too often happens, the Universe had other plans in store. Just weeks before the wedding, the relationship went a different direction…leaving the question: what to do with all of the fabulous party plans already in place?
The answer quickly became clear to Summer and her mother, Rose: transform the day into a different kind of celebration while raising much needed money for a wonderful cause, The Octopus Club. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the Paul Kirby AIDS Emergency Assistance Fund, helping those living with HIV and AIDS just when they need it most.
Summer McKee and Rose Colombo, in coordination with The Octopus Club, delight in inviting you to a CELEBRATION OF LOVE at the historic Driskill Hotel. Complimentary cocktails throughout the evening for the first 150 guests, hors d’oeuvres, sweet treats, dancing and most of all: laughter. Celebration attire please!
To benefit the Paul Kirby Emergency Fund at AIDS Services of Austin, we suggest a donation of $25, $50, $100 or more.
