Virtually every one of the more than 40,000 colorful panels that make up the Quilt memorializes the life of a person lost to AIDS.
Now through AIDS Walk Austin on October 18, this block from the Quilt will be on display. Locations displaying the quilt include Austin City Hall, The Long Center for the Performing Arts, The University of Texas at Austin’s Student Health Center and Whole Foods Market.
The AIDS Memorial Quilt is on display as part of Austin Red Week, a week of events to raise funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS in Central Texas. Other Red Week events include the OctoTea Dance, National Latino HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, and AIDS Walk Austin.
